Side effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, abdominal pain, and rash. If these are experienced while taking oral Esomeprazole, inform your doctor immediately.Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, and/or confusion. Heartburn may occur.Stop taking Nexium and consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration.
Dosage:The recommended dose of Nexium 40mg in adults and children aged 12 years and older for the treatment of frequent heartburn is one capsule twice a day (12 hourly) for 7 to 10 days. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Important:Do not take more than directed in one day. Do not stop taking Nexium prematurely, or take longer than prescribed by your doctor. Nexium can cause a rebound (burn that does not recur) that will wear off after a few days of continuous use. If this occurs, contact your doctor or pharmacist.Avoid foods that contain acid such as:oydehydes, acidic fruits, and acidic or sweet foods. Contact your doctor if you eat foods that cause stomach upset or notice unexpected changes in your stomach. Acid-containing products (such as applesauce or yogurt) can make Nexium less effective in managing frequent heartburn.Do not chew esomeprazole. It should be swallowed whole. If you become jittery or drowsy, call your doctor. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness or clear vision until you know how the medication affects you.Do not apply a bandage overlasting your stomach or intestines to protect them from acid.Do not take Nexium for more than 14 days unless directed by your doctor. If you notice any symptoms of a allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing or hives, stop taking Nexium and call your doctor right away. In the rare event your doctor does not see results within a few days, you should contact a doctor such as a physician.
